Consignment policy:
Part of the mission statement of Jewlz is to teach and assist
others in the art of jewelry making and help them to succeed in
marketing their craft. We are frequently asked to
consign. We do accept consignments; however artists need to
understand that a 50% markup in sales price is necessary in order
to cover our overhead and expenses. Most often this means
that we have to price the work of others, higher than the market
will bear. Because of this, we've discovered that consignment
doesn't usually do well in our store. Add the aforementioned
reason to the fact that we sell all the parts to make jewelry and
our existing customers really haven't much incentive to purchase
finished consigned items . . . other than to copy designs - which
consigning artists must also be prepared to accept. As the
old saying goes, "Imitation is the highest form of praise."
However; because we are firmly committed to supporting and
assisting craftspeople in manufacturing and marketing, we are
developing these web pages to sponsor the works of others. It
is hoped that by posting an artist's bio, works and even prices
here that we will be able to connect buyers and sellers. Call
us if you'd like to see your creations added here.
